Divination has been on my mind the last week or so.

I have had divinations that I felt were wrong or partially wrong.

I didn't understand it. Shouldn't truth shine through any divination?

It is reading energy. Various different kinds that form unique matrixes that make up every equally unique being. Diviners read these energies and use a system of divination to interpret their meaning.

If someone doesn't think that women should be initiated into Ifa, for instance, then a reading that normally would mean such an outcome would be interpreted as that women should marry a male priest of Ifa and not be an Iyanifa or Iyalawo themselves. This has nothing to do with the energy.

This has to do with the diviner and the diviner's interpretation of the energy, his or her filter. His or Her worldview will shade how that person interprets a reading.

Of course, it is important to understand the system in which the diviner works before getting a divination. Certain traditions have certain rules and it would be good for you to know what those are so you know where the diviner is coming from. This would also effect their interpretation of the divination.

There are things about diviners that everyone should know:

Diviners are NOT God/the Gods/the Goddess.

They can't make decisions for you. Or do the work. You must do that yourself.

They can't read a stagnant future. Everything changes and is alive. They can tell you probabilities on a current path, not certain outcomes.

Their perception of the world can be a filter for limitation (as in not initiating women into Ifa in some traditions) or an endless realm of possibility. Choosing a diviner and knowing their personal biases is important in getting an accurate reading.

It does not make it true just because it is in a divination. Remember, the reading must go though a diviner and is interpreted by he or she. Does this mean not to trust diviners? No. It means choose them wisely and more importantly, trust yourself.
