Ingredients

2 dl sugar
½ liter water
1 stick cinnamon
6 whole cloves
1 piece of dried ginger
1 bottle of red wine
Raisins and split almonds

Directions

Mix everything but the wine and the raisins and almonds. Bring to a boil and leave it on the heat for about 5 minutes. Take off the heat and let the fluid absorb the flavour for about 15 minutes. Mix with wine and raisins and almonds and reheat slowly. Remember NEVER to let it boil after adding the wine. This can be reheated several times, and keeps for awhile if keeping it in the fridge.

(There are several versions of the drink. In one you soak the raisins in rum for 24 hours first.)
